Do I really need to optimise my web site?
Is it always necessary to do SEO on a website?
Oddly enough, the answer to the question 'do I need to bother with Search Engine Optimisation?' is not always 'Yes'. Some websites simply do not need to appear high in search engine rankings. Ask yourself the following questions to see if you can avoid SEO altogether.
Do I want strangers to find my site?
If a site is a collection of family photos or maybe a school project you might not want the world to come and see your website at all.
My site has a limited lifespan
If the site is for an upcoming event, say a party in 6 weeks time, then SEO, which almost always takes far longer than that to have an effect would be a waste of time and effort.
I need a major upturn in business very soon.
Again, if time is of the essence then SEO which in the longer term is far more cost effective than advertising would not be your best option. In such circumstance we would strongly reccomend a pay-per-click advertising campaign above SEO for short term return on investment.
